ITES Activity 3

I have to admit that this is the first time I've really examined the Common Core standards for Language Arts.  I currently align my lessons with the NC Standard Course of Study.  Common Core is much more specific and the ITES are much narrower, which means I'm going to need a lot of help to find technology tools that can be used on 6 computers in 30 minutes.  For example, it would seem that digital storytelling would be a natural tool to use with many of the Language Arts objectives.  But, logistically, how would that work?  Since all students will be learning the same concepts at the same time, maybe Media Specialists can collaborate and create lessons that all could share.  Many of the Language Arts standards refer to "compare and contrast."  Perhaps there is an excellent online graphic organizer to share with students to help with that concept.   I know we're encouraged to work on the higher levels with Bloom's taxonomy.  Once again, the creation concept seems perfectly suited for technology tools.  Presentation of knowledge and ideas connects well here.  Tools such as Prezi, PowerPoint and Glogs would work well here.  The big time-consuming word is "how".  I keep thinking, "This sounds like a summer project to me!"  Time to explore, experiment and plan in preparation for the upcoming school year.  In the meantime, I'll have to work in baby steps to experiment with what will work.  The research aspects of the ITES dovetail with the research standards within the Common Core Language Arts standards.
